Register your dog with us for the first time

You should know

Before you start

Use this form if you are:

  • registering your dog for the first time with Auckland Council
  • moving to Auckland from another district.

This form is for the registration year 1 July 2023 - 30 June 2024

Before you apply you must know the dog owner's date of birth.

You may also need copies of:

  • microchip number and certificate
  • the breed of your dog
  • proof of your working dog category
  • veterinary certificate or similar if the dog is de-sexed
  • a picture or copy of both sides of your New Zealand SuperGold combo card or a VeteranGold card
  • responsible Dog Owner Licence (RDOL) number.

Payment

You can pay by credit or debit card, Online EFTPOS, or Account2Account. A card payment fee of 1.75 per cent will apply for credit or debit card payments.

Your privacy

We will use your personal information to authenticate you and to allow you to complete changes online. We will share your information with a third party only if we are required to by any laws or regulations. This includes meeting our obligations under the Dog Control Act 1996.
